Adobe Illustrator Tasks: Legend and Label Adjustment, Text Editing, Layout and Alignment
Objective: To create a choropleth map visualizing the population density of the provinces of Chile.Â
Analysis:
This analysis involved several steps:
Data Preparation: joined the provinces shapefile to the population data and exported the updated shapefile.
Projection: applied a transverse cylindrical equal area projection, which is best Chile's elongated shape.
Data Generalization: simplified the polygon and merged the sample provinces together.
Data Standardization: created an area field, calculated the area of each province, and calculated the population density.
Data Classification: classified the data in the symbology pane using a geometric interval classification method, which best fit the skewed distribution of the data.
Finalization: exported the map to Adobe Illustrator to adjust the text and map layout.
